“To whom it may concern
This letter is in support of Clinique Tamar James's application for the Nexxus project. I have known miss James since 2019. She made such an impact on my life that I married her. I have often told her that I have a biased opinion concerning her. The truth is I can't say enough about her, her heart to help those in need and her desire to uplift the African American community in Minnesota and across the nation. To explain how Mrs. James is connected to the African American community locally, I must first explain how we met.
My mentor Dr. Maria Baxter mentioned to me that there was a restaurant available to be purchased at a local hotel. I walked into the hotel, and the entire staff were local people that did not have the best reputations. Initially I was seeking the director of sales, but Clinique came out and said she could talk to me. The first question I asked was why she hired all those people that didn’t have the best reputations in town. Her statement sticks with me till this day; she asked me how their reputations are going to get any better if nobody gives them an opportunity to succeed. During our conversation we talked about how she got to Minnesota, her family in Minnesota and her health. I found her to be intriguing, so I asked why she wasn’t married, she stated that she had prayed for him, and she was waiting for him to show up. I told her husband was probably right here in Mankato. I wasn't talking about myself at the time because I had a girlfriend, but the Lord works in mysterious ways. My relationship with that other person ended and the budding friendship between myself and Clinique turned romantic.
One of the things that connected us was the love for our community not just locally but on a national level. I have been mentoring for over 20 years in official and non-official capacities. And Clinique has also been mentoring, she now has spread across the United States several hotel managers, at least one general manager and countless young people that call her Mama. This common connector is why I believe in her plan and her vision. She just doesn't want one hotel, the number that has been discussed is 500 and each hotel acting as a training ground for young people looking for some direction and a career.
To understand the impact that Clinique Tamara James has on those around her, you have to be around for the phone calls. She has gotten phone calls in the middle of the night from former employees who need help, guidance, support and sometimes just a prayer. The phone calls about people succeeding, one of our former employees just got his master's degree and is looking to start his PhD and he credits her pushing him. We can't go out to eat without one of our former employees showing up at our table and thanking her for helping them. She has even gone as far as to allow a homeless employee to come stay with us for a short time. In that short time the young lady got her GED and is now in college. So, you see my bias opinion and unwavering support of Clinique Tamara James is very well earned and deserved.”

I am honored to write this letter in support of Clinique James. I have known Clinique for a little over five years. While we are not biologically related, she is my previous Manager and Mentor, and we have a bond that runs deeper than family.
Clinique is deeply connected to the Black community in countless ways. She provides opportunities through employment, motivates those around her, and instills hope in everyone she meets. Clinique opens her heart and resources to the less fortunate, helping those without homes find shelter. She feeds the homeless, prays for the weak, and uplifts the bewildered. Many times, the blessings people receive are a direct result of her prayers and support. Clinique embodies hope itself; when she helps, she leaves people with a renewed sense of purpose and possibility.
I wholeheartedly believe in Clinique and her plans. There is nothing she cannot accomplish when she sets her mind to it. Her determination and drive are unparalleled. Having been born on the same day and year just an hour and 32 minutes apart—I can confidently say that Clinique and I share the same inner strength. Her life’s purpose is to help people, and I would support her in any endeavor, even one as ambitious as moving a cloud.
Over the years, I have witnessed Clinique achieve remarkable things for herself and for those around her. She transformed a run-down hotel on the brink of closure into a thriving establishment, retaining employees, giving raises, and hiring additional staff to ease workloads. She treats employees with dignity and respect, fostering an environment of inclusion and growth. Clinique also took a new hotel project from inception to grand opening, overseeing everything from staffing to operations and scheduling, always leading by example. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she provides safe havens for domestic and homeless individuals in her community, offers guidance to those who seek it, and continues to inspire by living a life grounded in faith, love, and service. Clinique is selfless and generous; she would give her last to ensure others have what they need.
In summary, Clinique James is a visionary, a motivator, and a pillar of the community. She embodies hope, resilience, and compassion, and I fully support her endeavors to create positive change and wealth not just for herself but for her family and community.
